75 Tons Galvanized Steel Pipes Shipped to The Philippines on August 20th
There has been a consistently growing need for steel products from some Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, over the last few months. And Jiuzhou Metal was fortunate to fulfill an order from the Philippines not long ago. A 75 tons shipment featuring galvanized steel pipes has just arrived at Manila Port after an 8-day cruise journey, departing from Qingdao Port on the 20th of August. This was actually an order placed from the Philippines in quite a while for our company.
As another Southeast Asian country with over 100 million population, the Philippines faces Taiwan Province of China across the Bashi Strait to the north, faces Indonesia and Malaysia across the Sulawesi Sea and Balabac Strait to the south and southwest, borders the South China Sea to the west, and the Pacific Ocean to the east. There are more than 7,000 large and small islands in total. The Philippines is an export-oriented economy and relies heavily on external markets. The tertiary industry plays a prominent role in the national economy, with agriculture and manufacturing also accounting for a considerable proportion. In the late 1960s, the country adopted an open policy to actively attract foreign investment, and achieved remarkable results in economic development. The manufacturing industry is dominated by food processing, chemical products, radio communication equipment and other industries, accounting for more than 65% of total output. China is the largest trading partner, largest source of imports, and second largest export market of the Philippines. In 2023, bilateral trade volume was US$71.9 billion. Among them, China’s export volume was US$52.41 billion and import volume was US$19.49 billion.
This order placed by our Pilipino client features the Z275 galvanized steel pipe, which is a kind of a double-sided galvanized carbon steel. This is produced by a metal coating process that passes cold rolled pipes through a bath filled with molten zinc. Galvanizing is a well-known and effective method to add a protective layer to prevent the exposed steel from being corroded by natural elements. Zinc not only acts as a barrier between the environment and the steel, but it also decomposes first to protect the underlying steel and extend its service life. Zinc is generally represented by Z. Z is the abbreviation of English Zinc. Z275 means that the galvanizing content is 275 grams per square meter.
