120T Carbon Steel Plates Shipped to France on March 12, 2024
March 12th marks the first bulk shipment to Europe after the Spring festival in China as 120 tons of carbon steel plates just embarked on an one-month cruise trip to France from Tianjin Port.
As a matter of fact, France is not considered a very frequent destination of export for Jiuzhou Metal compared with some nearby Asian neighbors. This is mainly a result of a much longer sailing schedule and higher shipment costs caused by the long sailing distance. Despite that, many French clients still prefer to import from China instead of some countries from Europe or North America. For one, China is very rich in the iron ore resource, which is the primary raw material needed to produce steel products including carbon steel plates. For another, the production cost, consisting mainly of labour cost, inventory cost, and raw material cost, is much lower in China than in many developed countries. Both factors make China the top destination for many European buyers to seek bulk orders while minimizing their purchase costs.
This order placed by our French client features 572 carbon steel plates of grade 50 and grade 60. A572 is a low-carbon, low-alloy high-strength steel plate produced using electric furnace steelmaking technology. Its main component is scrap iron. Through reasonable composition design and strict process control, A572 steel plate has high purity and excellent performance. Grade 50 and grade 60 are very similar in terms of chemical composition, with higher yield strength and tensile strength for grade 60. This kind of steel plate is widely used in construction, bridges, heavy machinery and other fields. At the same time, due to its low carbon and low alloy characteristics, it performs well in welding, forming and corrosion resistance.
